Settings

The Settings page lets you configure your project’s identity, behavior, and quality standards. Here’s a breakdown of the available options:

General

  • Project Name
    The name of your translation project. This will appear in the interface and exports.

  • Description
    A short description of your project and its purpose.

  • Web URL
    The primary URL for your product. Will be useful in the future for linking to your project or providing context to translators.

  • What are you building?
    Choose the type of product you're working on (e.g., website, app, game, other). Will be used in the future to help personalize features and suggestions.

  • Select Frameworks
    Choose the technologies or frameworks your project uses (e.g., Angular, React Native). Will be used in the future to help tailor export formats and platform-specific behaviors.

Functionality

  • Enable Variable Substitution
    Converts placeholder formats in imported files to a standard ICU message format, making variables easier to manage across languages. Read more about Placeholder Formats.

  • Enable Namespaces
    When enabled, allows you to organize keys into logical groups called namespaces. This is useful for large projects where you want to structure translations by feature, module, or any other organizational method. Once enabled, you can create namespaces and assign keys to them. AI Settings

  • Enable AI
    Master switch to enable or disable AI translation features for the project. When disabled, AI translation options will not be available.

  • Overall AI Translation Tone
    A short label (max 25 characters) that guides the tone of AI-generated translations. For example: "Casual tone", "Formal business", etc. This will be used by AI to adjust translations to match your desired style.

  • Default AI Translate on New Keys
    When enabled, new keys will automatically be translated using AI for all languages in the project. This is especially useful for bulk imports or when adding many keys at once, as it provides initial translations that can then be reviewed and refined.

QA Settings

  • Enable QA Checks for Project
    Master switch to enable or disable QA (Quality Assurance) checks. When enabled, the system will automatically validate translations during editing. Read more about QA Checks.

When QA is enabled, you can configure individual QA checks:

  • Spellcheck – Highlights typos and misspelled words using language-specific dictionaries (including custom dictionaries).
  • Double Spaces – Flags extra spaces between words, which can often slip through unnoticed.
  • Punctuation Check – Detects missing or inconsistent punctuation, ensuring terminal punctuation matches the source or follows expected patterns.
  • Number of Variables Check – Verifies that all required variables (e.g., {name}) are present and match the source string, preventing broken string formatting at runtime.

You can enable or disable each check individually, giving you fine-grained control over which quality checks are performed for your project.
